H.R. 7490 — Tribal Warrant Fairness Act

This section expands the permanent Fugitive Apprehension Task Forces—directed and coordinated by the U.S. Marshals Service to locate and apprehend fugitives—to include Tribal law enforcement authorities and requires consultation with Indian Tribes in their establishment (previously, Federal, State, and local authorities only). It further (1) clarifies that the provision does not limit authorities to locate or apprehend fugitives under Tribal law (in addition to Federal or State law); and (2) revises U.S. Marshals Service duties to address Tribal fugitive matters upon an Indian Tribe's request and coordinate with Tribal authorities (previously, local authorities only).
