H.R. 7518 — To amend the Food, Agriculture, Conservation, and Trade Act of 1990 to ensure adequate staffing and resources for the Institute of Tropical Forestry and the Institute of Pacific Islands Forestry.

This section revises the authorization for the Institutes of Tropical Forestry (in Puerto Rico) and Pacific Islands Forestry—USDA Forest Service entities that conduct research on tropical forest management and natural resources (e.g., climate change effects, endangered species, sustained yield development, and deforestation impacts)—by (1) updating the section heading to "Institutes of Tropical Forestry and Pacific Islands Forestry," (2) designating the introductory authority as subsection (a) and research activities as subsection (b), and (3) adding subsection (c) to require the Secretary to ensure minimum staffing of 50 individuals for the Institute of Tropical Forestry in Puerto Rico and 30 individuals for the Institute of Pacific Islands Forestry, plus adequate resources to advance related science, research, demonstration, and knowledge exchange.
