H.R. 7629 — Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act and Dingell-Johnson Sport Fish Restoration Act District of Columbia Equality Act of 2026

This section amends the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act (16 U.S.C. 669 et seq.; i.e., provides federal grants to states for wildlife conservation, hunter recruitment and retention, public target range construction, and related activities funded by excise taxes on firearms, ammunition, and archery equipment) and the Dingell-Johnson Sport Fish Restoration Act (16 U.S.C. 777 et seq.; i.e., provides federal grants to states for sport fish restoration and related activities funded by excise taxes on fishing equipment) to define "State" as each of the several states and the District of Columbia. It makes conforming amendments to remove prior special treatment of the District of Columbia (Thus, the District of Columbia becomes eligible for full apportionment of funds under both programs.).
