H.R. 7677 — Closing the Provider Fraud Gap Act

This section directs the Comptroller General of the United States to conduct a study on fraud prevention measures in federal early childhood education, child care, and child nutrition programs—including (1) the effectiveness of procedures to prevent provider fraud, (2) the sufficiency and effective use of federal data (e.g., from audits and reporting) to identify fraud, and (3) for the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) program, program integrity results in states delegating administration to counties or localities and any state corrective action plans with outcomes—and to submit a report with results and regulatory or legislative recommendations to the House Committee on Education and Workforce and the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions not later than two years after enactment. The specified programs are Head Start (including Early Head Start), the Child and Adult Care Food Program, and CCDBG.
