H.R. 7698 — Tribal Firearm Access Act

This section permits the use of a valid identification document issued by a Tribal government to satisfy the identification requirement for national instant criminal background checks prior to a firearm transfer by a federal firearms licensee. It defines “Tribal government” as the recognized governing body of any federally recognized Indian or Alaska Native tribe, band, nation, pueblo, village, community, component band, or component reservation individually identified (including parenthetically) in the list published most recently pursuant to section 104(a) of the Federally Recognized Indian Tribe List Act of 1994. The amendments take effect 90 days after the date of enactment.
