H.R. 7734 — Land Grant Research Prioritization Act of 2026

This section adds four new research and extension priorities to the list in section 1672(d) of the Food, Agriculture, Conservation, and Trade Act of 1990 (7 U.S.C. 5925(d)) for the Specialty Crop Research Initiative, which provides competitive grants to address needs of specialty crops (i.e., fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, nursery crops, and horticulture). The new priorities are (1) advanced mechanized harvester technologies to mechanize agricultural processes, with emphasis on specialty crop harvesting; (2) agricultural applications of artificial intelligence, with emphasis on specialty crop production; (3) invasive species management and eradication, including biocontrol, at land-grant colleges and universities; and (4) aquaculture methods, including propagation and rearing of economically and ecologically valuable aquatic and marine species, at land-grant colleges and universities.
