H.R. 779 — Stop Sexually Violent Predators Act

This section amends the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006 as follows: (1) requires states to submit to the Attorney General a list of individuals convicted of a sexually dangerous offense in the previous fiscal year, in addition to existing reporting requirements before the end of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) compliance period; (2) directs the Attorney General to review such lists to determine whether the convicted individuals should be prosecuted for a federal offense; (3) prohibits federal Medicaid payments to states for medical assistance furnished to specified individuals under Medicaid state plans (or waivers) and deems such individuals ineligible for Medicare hospital insurance (part A) or supplementary medical insurance (part B) benefits, with an exception for those receiving involuntary treatment as inpatients in hospitals or skilled nursing facilities (specified individual defined as one convicted of a sexually violent offense and determined to be a sexually dangerous person); and (4) requires jurisdictions registering sex offenders under SORNA to include in the registry information about any relevant court case (new paragraph (8) in 34 U.S.C. 20914(b), redesignating prior paragraph (8) as (9)).
