H.R. 7823 — To direct the Secretary of Homeland Security, acting through the Traveler Redress Inquiry Program of the Department of Homeland Security, to provide to individuals whose enrollment in a Trusted Traveler program is denied, suspended, or early terminated an option to appeal such denial, suspension, or early termination, as the case may be, and for other purposes.

This section establishes redress procedures, administered through the Department of Homeland Security's Traveler Redress Inquiry Program (TRIP), for individuals denied, suspended, or early terminated from enrollment in specified Trusted Traveler programs (i.e., TSA PreCheck under 49 U.S.C. 44919; Global Entry, SENTRI, and FAST under 8 U.S.C. 1365b(k); NEXUS under 8 U.S.C. 1753; and APEC Business Travel Card under 6 U.S.C. 218). Upon such action, the Secretary of Homeland Security must (1) provide an appeal option and written information on the reason, appeal details and timelines, other appeal options, and reapplication options; (2) not later than 90 days after enactment, publish related information and a TRIP appeal status telephone number on a DHS website; and (3) during a pending TRIP appeal, provide written status updates at least every 30 days. (Trusted Traveler programs provide expedited airport and border screening for pre-vetted, low-risk individuals.)
