“To allow public housing projects under the rental demonstration program to retain prior approval of housing plans, and for other purposes.”
No CRS summary available for this bill.
This section permits public housing projects with approved designated housing plans under the United States Housing Act of 1937—authorizing occupancy exclusively by elderly families, disabled families, or both—to retain such approvals upon conversion to the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program and to use the same approval process for future designations. (As background, RAD, established in the FY2012 THUD appropriations act, enables conversion of public housing to project-based rental assistance while preserving affordability and tenant protections.) Projects retaining approvals must continue to comply with original terms and conditions and undergo the same certification process under section 9 of the Act as initially required.
