H.R. 7925 — American Families First Assistance Act

This section amends section 402 of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (8 U.S.C. 1612) by (1) repealing subsection (b)(3)(A); and (2) adding subsection (c), which provides that qualified aliens are ineligible for block grants to states under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program (part A of title IV of the Social Security Act) except for lawful permanent residents, Cuban nationals granted status as Cuban and Haitian entrants, or Amerasian immigrants admitted under specified authorities. (Thus, this eliminates prior eligibility for refugees and asylees during their first seven years, lawful permanent residents lacking 40 qualifying quarters of Social Security coverage, and certain veterans and active-duty personnel who are qualified aliens, while expanding eligibility to all lawful permanent residents.)
