H.R. 7932 — HONOR Gold Star Families Act

This section increases the death gratuity payment under 10 U.S.C. §1478(a) to $200,000 (from $100,000) for members of the uniformed services who die while on active duty, with the increase applying to deaths occurring on or after January 1, 2026.

This section establishes an annual cost-of-living adjustment to the $100,000 death gratuity payable under 10 U.S.C. §§ 1475–1477 (i.e., a one-time payment to survivors of eligible service members who die on active duty or certain other duty). The adjustment, effective January 1 each year beginning in 2027, increases the amount by the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers during the prior calendar year (rounded to the nearest $100), with the Secretary of Defense required to publish the adjusted amount annually in the Federal Register.
