No CRS summary available for this bill.
This section establishes in the Commodity Exchange Act a prohibition on registered entities listing for trading or accepting for clearing any agreement, contract, transaction, or swap based on an excluded commodity (as defined in CEA Section 1a(19)(iv), i.e., non-traditional commodities such as terrorism, assassination, or war) that involves, relates to, or references terrorism, assassination, war, or similar activities (as determined by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission); or an individual's death or correlates closely to an individual's death. (Thus, registered entities—such as designated contract markets, derivatives clearing organizations, and swap execution facilities—may not offer so-called "event contracts" on these subjects.)
