H.R. 8000 — END 7-OH Act

This section adds 7-hydroxymitragynine—including its synthetic equivalents—to Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA), excluding 7-hydroxymitragynine naturally contained in the plant Mitragyna speciosa Korth. (also known as kratom). As background, Schedule I substances under the CSA have high potential for abuse, no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States, and lack accepted safety for use under medical supervision. (Thus, such substances generally cannot be lawfully manufactured, distributed, dispensed, or possessed except for limited research purposes.)
