H.R. 8006 — Dakota Water Resources Act Amendments of 2026

This section authorizes additional appropriations, as indexed for construction cost fluctuations, for Bureau of Reclamation municipal, rural, and industrial water projects in North Dakota under section 7(a), including $120 million for the Northwest Area Water Supply Biota Water Treatment Plant and Pump Station Project; $404 million for the McClusky Canal and Missouri River North Alternative of the Eastern North Dakota Alternate Water Supply Project; $50 million for the Southwest Pipeline Project; and $63 million for North Dakota rural water districts (with transfers allowed among projects, limited to a 50% increase for any one project, and funds available for final engineering reports due within two years of enactment). The section further authorizes $743 million, as indexed, for Tribal rural water systems under section 7(d), allocated as follows: not more than $118 million for the Spirit Lake Rural Water System (Fort Totten Indian Reservation); not more than $275 million for the Three Affiliated Tribes Rural Water System (Fort Berthold Indian Reservation); not more than $240 million for the Standing Rock Rural Water System (Standing Rock Indian Reservation); not more than $98 million for the Turtle Mountain Rural Water System (Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation); and $12 million for a feasibility study and potential construction of a system for the Lake Traverse Indian Reservation (with funds available for final engineering reports due within two years of enactment). The section increases authorization for section 11 to $75 million (available until expended) and revises the indexing provision in subsection (e) to apply to specified prior authorizations.
