H.R. 8062 — Ensuring Full Participation in the Census Act of 2026

This section prohibits any question regarding citizenship, nationality, or immigration status on a questionnaire or survey used to carry out, or in connection with, the decennial census of population (i.e., the constitutionally required 10-year population count used for congressional apportionment), including with respect to the respondent, any family member, or any individual in the respondent's household. The prohibition does not apply to the American Community Survey (ACS), an annual survey conducted by the Census Bureau that gathers detailed demographic and housing data.
