H.R. 829 — Fighting Budget Waste Act

This section requires the President and the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), when preparing the annual budget submission, to consider information and recommendations in the most recently published Government Accountability Office (GAO) report titled “Additional Opportunities to Reduce Fragmentation, Overlap, and Duplication and Achieve Billions of Dollars in Financial Benefits” (or successor report). (As background, the GAO report identifies federal programs with duplicative or overlapping functions and estimates potential savings from streamlining.) It further requires the OMB Director to submit to Congress, on the date of the budget submission, a report on OMB's findings with respect to that GAO report.
