“To protect the religious freedom of pharmacists choosing not to dispense or sell abortion-inducing drugs.”
No CRS summary available for this bill.
This section prohibits, notwithstanding any other law, requiring a pharmacist—including one employed by a private business or government agency—to dispense or sell mifepristone or misoprostol for abortion services if doing so conflicts with the pharmacist's sincerely held religious beliefs and bars any punishment therefor (including license revocation or withdrawal of federal funding). It authorizes such a pharmacist to bring a civil action in federal district court for injunctive relief against any person imposing such a requirement or punishment and defines "pharmacist" as a person licensed by a state to practice pharmacy, including dispensing and selling prescription drugs.
