H.R. 8399 — STAR Act

This section eliminates restrictions on artwork installed on federally funded transit buses by striking the prohibition on depictions of political candidates or measures or the promotion of goods or services (49 U.S.C. 5323(h)(2)) and redesignating the definition of "artwork" as the new paragraph (2). The section also strikes a special rule restricting artwork in fixed guideway capital investment grants projects (i.e., major transit capital investments such as new rail lines and bus rapid transit corridors) and redesignates the subsequent subsection (49 U.S.C. 5309(p)).
