H.R. 8461 — Western Tribal Water Act of 2026

This section states congressional findings that (1) the Upper Colorado River Basin is home to several Indian Tribes facing over $100 million in water infrastructure needs; (2) the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe has a $50 million project to repair aging drinking water delivery infrastructure in southwestern Colorado; and (3) the Indian Reservation Drinking Water Program under section 2001 of America's Water Infrastructure Act of 2018 (P.L. 115-270) assists Indian Tribes in other drought-stricken Western basins with drinking water supplies and services.

This section amends the Indian Reservation Drinking Water Program—established by the America's Water Infrastructure Act of 2018 to provide grants for drinking water infrastructure on Indian reservations—by (1) adding 10 eligible projects within the Upper Colorado River Basin to the list of designated projects under subsection (c)(1), and (2) authorizing $60 million for each of FY2027 and FY2028 under subsection (g).
