H.R. 8503 — Save SNAP Act of 2026

This section establishes a hardship exception to the state cost-share requirement for allotments under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), under which the Secretary of Agriculture must pay the full cost of such allotments if a state cannot pay its share under current law for any reason, and the cost-share requirement does not apply to that state for that fiscal year. (SNAP provides food assistance benefits to low-income individuals and families, with allotments previously funded 100% by the federal government.)
