H.R. 8550 — To allow States to require payment of State fees related to boating as a condition for issuance of a vessel number and to collect such fees in conjunction with other fees related to vessel numbering.

This section expands state authority under 46 U.S.C. § 12307 to require payment, as part of vessel numbering systems for undocumented vessels, of fees related to boating—such as for search and rescue operations, boating safety measures, or aquatic invasive species efforts—which may be collected in conjunction with other fees and used only for activities directly related to recreational boating, boater safety and access, waterway use by recreational boaters, and aquatic invasive species.
