H.R. 8590 — CARE for Parenting Students Act

This section expands the definition of allowable educational and training programs that qualify as parental activities for purposes of child care eligibility under the Child Care and Development Block Grant. The amendment adds four categories of programs: those accredited by an institution of higher education; those offered by institutions accredited by an agency recognized by the Department of Education; those registered with the Department of Labor, a State department of labor, or an equivalent agency; and those approved by a State, State board of nursing, or State department of health to license or certify nursing assistants.

This section authorizes an additional $850,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2027 through 2031 to carry out the Child Care and Development Block Grant Act of 1990.
