H.R. 8602 — Davis-Bacon Repeal Act

This section repeals subchapter IV of chapter 31 of title 40, U.S. Code (i.e., the Davis-Bacon Act prevailing wage requirements for laborers and mechanics on federal construction, alteration, or repair contracts exceeding $2,000), and nullifies any references to those requirements in other laws. (Thus, contractors on such projects will no longer be required to pay locally prevailing wages determined by the Department of Labor.)

This section establishes an effective date for Section 2 and its amendment of 30 days after enactment, excluding any contracts in existence or made pursuant to outstanding invitations for bids as of that date.
