H.R. 868 — Prison Staff Safety Enhancement Act

This section directs the Department of Justice Inspector General to conduct, not later than one year after enactment, a comprehensive statistical review and analysis of sexual harassment and sexual assault—defined to include acts described in 10 U.S.C. §920(b)–(d)—perpetrated by incarcerated individuals against Bureau of Prisons correctional officers and other employees, including an analysis of punishments in such cases as of enactment and over the prior five years. The Inspector General must submit a report summarizing the findings to the Attorney General and the Judiciary Committees of the House and Senate not later than 180 days after completing the review. The Attorney General must then promulgate national standards for prevention, reduction, and punishment not later than one year after receiving the report.
