H.R. 8708 — Main Street BRIDGE Act

This section directs the Administrator of the Small Business Administration and the Secretary of Commerce, acting through the Director of the Minority Business Development Agency, to require small business development centers and MBDA Business Centers to collaborate to better serve small business concerns not later than 180 days after the date of enactment. This section also requires the Administrator and the Director to jointly submit a report to Congress within two years that summarizes collaboration results, describes challenges encountered, and provides data on consultations and outreach activities performed, small business concerns served and started, jobs created and supported, financial assistance provided, and recommendations for enhancing future collaboration.

This section defines terms used in the Act, including “Administrator” as the Administrator of the Small Business Administration, “Director” as the National Director of the Minority Business Development Agency, “MBDA Business Center” by reference to the Minority Business Development Act of 2021, “Secretary” as the Secretary of Commerce, “small business concern” by reference to the Small Business Act, and “small business development center” by reference to the Small Business Act.
