H.R. 8763 — TREAT PTSD VA Act

This section establishes a new authority under title 38, United States Code, for the Department of Veterans Affairs to furnish stellate ganglion block to veterans diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. It requires the Secretary to provide the treatment to any veteran enrolled in the VA patient enrollment system who elects to receive it after being informed of the risks and benefits, through either a VA medical facility or a community provider under section 1703(c). This section also directs the Secretary to update the VA/DOD Clinical Practice Guideline for the Management of PTSD within 180 days of enactment to reflect stellate ganglion block as a therapy option and to include information on its clinical indicators and contraindications, and to notify the House and Senate Committees on Veterans’ Affairs upon completion of the update. The new authority takes effect 180 days after the date of enactment.
