H.R. 921 — Master Sergeant Roddie Edmonds Congressional Gold Medal Act

This section sets forth congressional findings regarding Master Sergeant Roddie Edmonds, including his service in World War II with the 422nd Infantry Regiment; his capture during the Battle of the Bulge and internment at Stalag IX-A; his defiance of Nazi orders to segregate approximately 200 Jewish-American prisoners of war among the 1,292 under his command, saving their lives; his posthumous recognition by Yad Vashem as "Righteous Among the Nations"; and the upcoming 80th anniversary of World War II's conclusion in 2025.

This section authorizes a posthumous Congressional Gold Medal to Roddie Edmonds in recognition of his achievements and heroic actions during World War II, to be struck by the Secretary of the Treasury and presented to his son, Pastor Christopher Waring Edmonds, or next of kin.

This section authorizes the Secretary of the Treasury to strike and sell bronze duplicates of the gold medal authorized under section 3, at a price sufficient to cover the costs of production, including labor, materials, dies, use of machinery, and overhead expenses.

This section designates medals struck under this Act as (1) national medals for purposes of chapter 51 of title 31, United States Code, and (2) numismatic items for purposes of sections 5134 and 5136 of such title.
