H.Res. 1062 — Denouncing statements by President Donald J. Trump that he may "nationalize," commandeer, or otherwise assume direct control over elections.

This section states that the House of Representatives (1) finds the Constitution entrusts primary oversight and administration of federal elections to state and local authorities and Congress; (2) rejects any suggestion that the President may nationalize, commandeer, or assume direct control over elections; (3) renounces any such presidential effort absent explicit constitutional or statutory authority as unconstitutional, unlawful, and without effect; (4) expresses grave concern that presidential advocacy of such power undermines federalism, the rule of law, and public trust in elections; and (5) maintains that any presidential attempt to unconstitutionally infringe on state prerogatives or congressional laws constitutes grounds for impeachment and removal.
