H.Res. 1084 — HIV is Not a Crime Day Resolution

This section expresses support for the goals and ideals of HIV is Not a Crime Awareness Day, encourages federal, state, and local governments along with judicial, healthcare, educational, and media organizations to recognize the day, supports community and law enforcement education on HIV prevention, treatment, transmission, disclosure, and care, promotes up-to-date and medically accurate information on HIV including pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in sex education curricula, affirms that people living with HIV should not be criminalized or subject to enhanced penalties based solely on their HIV status, supports removal of scientifically inaccurate HIV criminal laws that penalize consensual or no-risk behaviors, honors individuals and communities affected by HIV criminalization, recognizes the impact of restrictions on bodily autonomy such as limits on abortion, birth control, and gender-affirming care on HIV prevention and treatment access, and supports increased funding for programs serving people living with HIV including medical mentorship, peer navigation, testing and treatment education, and PrEP and PEP access.
