H.Res. 1183 — Supporting the designation of the week of April 11 through April 17, 2026, as "Black Maternal Health Week", founded by Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Inc. (BMMA), to bring national attention to the maternal and reproductive health crisis in the United States and the importance of reducing maternal mortality and morbidity among Black women and birthing people.

This section states the sense of the House of Representatives recognizing (1) disproportionate maternal mortality and morbidity rates among Black women; (2) the unacceptability of such rates; (3) the need to mitigate systemic racism by ensuring Black community access to safe housing, transportation equity, nutritious food, clean environments, decriminalization in family regulation systems, freedom from violence, living wages, economic opportunity, diverse perinatal workforce pipelines, and comprehensive reproductive health care; (4) the importance of human rights, reproductive justice, and birth justice frameworks; (5) the need for Black women and birthing people to participate in policy decisions; (6) the necessity of passing the Momnibus Act and related legislation; and (7) Black Maternal Health Week as an opportunity to advance community-driven solutions, center Black voices, and support Black-led organizations providing reproductive, maternal, and sexual health care.
