This section expresses the sense of the House of Representatives that (1) housing is a fundamental human right and federal housing programs keep families together regardless of immigration status; (2) mixed-immigration-status families should continue receiving prorated benefits and living together in public housing and Section 8 (Housing Choice Voucher) housing without threat of separation or eviction, in accordance with section 214 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1980; (3) the Trump administration should work with Congress to make significant new investments in federal housing programs; (4) the Trump administration's proposal to prohibit mixed-immigration-status families from receiving prorated housing assistance in programs such as public housing and Section 8 should be condemned; (5) policies scapegoating immigrants, people of color, and low-income families for the housing crisis—rather than addressing wage stagnation, rising rents, and lack of affordable housing supply—should be condemned; (6) policies failing to protect immigrants and keep families housed should be condemned; (7) the Government Accountability Office should conduct oversight and report on the Trump administration proposal's impacts on family separation, homelessness, housing affordability, and U.S. citizen children; (8) Congress should increase funding for Housing Choice Vouchers and Housing First initiatives; (9) HUD Secretary Scott Turner should be condemned for advancing policies threatening family unity, worsening homelessness, and undermining HUD's mission; and (10) the HUD Secretary should withdraw the proposed rule entitled “Housing and Community Development Act of 1980: Verification of Eligible Status.”
