H.Res. 239 — Raising awareness of the racial disparities in the impact of colorectal cancer on the Black community.

This section recognizes the deadly impact of colorectal cancer on the American people and acknowledges the racial disparity faced by the Black community; (1) encourages the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to continue and expand work identifying factors that result in colorectal screening disparities and to develop strategies to reduce and eliminate them; (2) encourages colorectal cancer screening as recommended by the United States Preventive Services Task Force; (3) encourages the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to conduct research on environmental factors and the National Institutes of Health to conduct research on physiological factors causing elevated risk for colorectal cancer in young adults; and (4) urges State health plans to adopt measures covering colorectal screenings for individuals at a lower age, with special consideration for the Black community and all those at higher risk.
