H.Res. 533 — Reaffirming the importance of the United States promoting the safety, health, and well-being of refugees and displaced persons in the United States and around the world.

This section recognizes the urgency of establishing comprehensive policies to address forced migration and refugee challenges, reaffirms the U.S. commitment to refugee and asylum seeker safety and well-being under the Refugee Act of 1980, and calls on President Trump to lift the indefinite suspension of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program and fully restore resettlement. It further calls on the Secretaries of State, Homeland Security, and Health and Human Services and the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations to uphold U.S. leadership in humanitarian assistance and refugee protection, support UNHCR and nongovernmental organization efforts, implement pledges from the December 2023 Global Refugee Forum, address barriers for refugees with disabilities, and meet robust refugee admissions goals.
