H.Res. 582 — Establishing an advisory working group to make recommendations with respect to relief portraits in the Hall of the House of Representatives.

This section establishes an advisory working group to recommend two women for inclusion among the relief portraits of lawgivers above the doors to the public gallery in the Hall of the House of Representatives. The working group consists of the Clerk of the House, the Curator of the House, the Curator for the Architect of the Capitol, the Chair and ranking minority member of the Committee on House Administration, the Chair and ranking minority member of the Subcommittee on the Legislative Branch of the Committee on Appropriations, and the Co-Chairs of the Congressional Bipartisan Women’s Caucus. The group must submit a report to the Speaker, the Minority Leader, and the Committee on House Administration with recommendations on (1) suitable women, (2) planning, funding, and commissioning of the portraits, (3) installation including whether any existing portraits should be replaced, and (4) a timeline minimizing disruption to House proceedings. The report is due not later than the earlier of one year after adoption of the resolution or the end of the 119th Congress, after consultation with scholars in the history of law and women’s history and staff of the Library of Congress.
