H.Res. 605 — Establishing the Select Subcommittee to Investigate the Remaining Questions Surrounding January 6, 2021.

This section establishes, for the 119th Congress, a select investigative subcommittee of the Committee on the Judiciary called the Select Subcommittee to Investigate the Remaining Questions Surrounding January 6, 2021. The subcommittee consists of not more than 8 members appointed by the Speaker (of whom not more than 3 are appointed in consultation with the minority leader), with the Speaker designating the chair; the chair and ranking minority member of the Committee on the Judiciary serve as ex officio nonvoting members not counted for quorum; and service on the subcommittee does not count against committee assignment limits. The subcommittee must conduct a full investigation of January 6, 2021, events within the Judiciary Committee's jurisdiction (i.e., constitutional and federal crimes matters), issue a final report to the Judiciary Committee by December 31, 2026, and may not mark up legislation; it applies House Rule XI and Judiciary Committee rules (with modifications for extended questioning by members or staff, subpoena and deposition authority, and access to certain intelligence information), receives relevant records from the Committee on House Administration within 7 days of House adoption of this resolution, and terminates 30 days after filing its final report or at the end of the 119th Congress, whichever is earlier.
