H.Res. 718 — Expressing support for increasing the number of Latino students and young professionals entering careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields.

This section states the sense of the House of Representatives that (1) increasing Latino individuals in STEM promotes economic empowerment in their community and the U.S. economy; (2) Latinos are underrepresented in STEM to the detriment of those industries and the economy; (3) diversity and inclusion improve STEM workforce performance, requiring greater investment in the Latino community to develop talent, reduce reliance on foreign workers, and maintain U.S. STEM leadership; (4) the federal government should increase support for initiatives boosting Latino students in STEM education and careers, particularly engineering; and (5) Hispanic-serving institutions and all higher education institutions play a key role in increasing Latino STEM participation.
