“Recognizing the continuing disparities in Black youth mental health access and treatment.”
No CRS summary available for this bill.
This section expresses the sense of the House of Representatives that (1) disparities in Black youth mental health access and treatment continue; (2) the current administration should address these disparities by continuing prior efforts and incorporating recommendations from *Ring the Alarm: The Crisis of Black Youth Suicide in America*; (3) conversations in Black communities, encouragement to seek mental health help, and education programming such as L.E.T.S. Save Lives are important to reduce stigma, foster discussions, and raise suicide prevention awareness; (4) funding should increase for all mental health support programs; and (5) the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) should remain an independent agency rather than being absorbed into the Administration for a Healthy America (AHA).
