This section expresses the sense of the House of Representatives that (1) it honors the Founding Fathers’ principle of separation of church and state and opposes extreme right-wing Christian nationalism; (2) it recognizes the 65th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy’s September 12, 1960, address to the Greater Houston Ministerial Association and the 150th anniversary of President Ulysses S. Grant’s speech to the Society of the Army of the Tennessee; (3) it acknowledges the significance of Kennedy’s address as a testament to these principles; (4) it reaffirms its commitment to protecting separation of church and state and religious freedom for all individuals; (5) it encourages Americans to reflect on maintaining a distinction between governmental authority and religious institutions to protect all citizens’ rights; and (6) it opposes extreme right-wing Christian nationalism and religious extremism that undermine religious freedom and separation of church and state.
