This section declares gun violence a public health crisis in the United States and (1) supports similar declarations by cities, localities, and states; (2) urges a coordinated whole-of-government effort to address the crisis and ensure child safety; (3) urges the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to continue its four-step public health approach to violence prevention and collaborate with other federal agencies; (4) urges the CDC to expand research and data collection on gun violence prevention; (5) urges the Surgeon General to issue a report on firearm injuries and violence prevention; and (6) commits the House of Representatives to ending the crisis.
