H.Res. 849 — Ban Crypto Corruption Resolution

This section expresses the sense of the House of Representatives supporting legislation to (1) prohibit the President, Vice President, Members of Congress, candidates for public office, elected public officials, high-ranking executive branch employees, special government employees, and their immediate family members from issuing, sponsoring, or endorsing digital assets (including cryptocurrency, memecoins, stablecoins, tokens, nonfungible tokens (NFTs), digital trading cards, and decentralized finance platforms); (2) require the President, Vice President, Members of Congress, candidates for public office, elected public officials, and their immediate family members to place held digital assets in a qualified blind trust inaccessible during candidacy, public service, and two years thereafter; (3) prohibit foreign investment in digital assets issued, promoted, or controlled by those individuals; (4) mandate full and timely disclosure of all cryptocurrency transactions by those individuals; (5) establish civil and criminal penalties for violations; and (6) clarify that violations constitute unofficial acts.
