H.Res. 955 — Recognizing the importance of a continued commitment to ending pediatric HIV/AIDS worldwide.

This section expresses the sense of the House of Representatives regarding U.S. leadership in preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV and eliminating pediatric HIV infections worldwide. Specifically, it (1) recognizes prevention of mother-to-child transmission as critical to stopping HIV spread and pediatric HIV elimination as a U.S. global AIDS priority for over two decades; (2) supports evidence-based HIV prevention for adolescents and young women, counseling and testing services with long-acting prevention methods, and scaling up prevention of mother-to-child transmission and pediatric/adolescent treatment through improved antiretroviral regimens and caregiver support; (3) endorses the four pillars of the Global Alliance to End AIDS in Children by 2030—closing treatment gaps for pregnant and breastfeeding girls and women living with HIV, preventing new infections among them, providing testing and care for exposed and HIV-positive infants/children/adolescents, and addressing rights/gender equality barriers; (4) applauds U.S. efforts through programs and research; (5) encourages the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) to create a standalone pediatric HIV strategy aligned with the standalone pediatric AIDS strategy and Global Alliance goals; and (6) reaffirms the U.S. commitment to end AIDS, eliminate new pediatric infections, and support affected women, children, adolescents, and families.
