S. 1116 — Ensuring Veterans’ Final Resting Place Act of 2025

This section revises VA authority to provide additional burial benefits—including a burial allowance of up to $948 (as adjusted), plot or interment allowance of up to $948 (as adjusted), and an outer burial receptacle—when furnishing an urn or plaque for a veteran’s cremated remains, by removing the requirement that the urn or plaque be furnished in lieu of a headstone or marker. (Thus, such benefits are available even if VA also furnishes a headstone or marker.) The changes apply to veterans who die on or after January 5, 2021.
