S. 1161 — Salem Maritime National Historical Park Redesignation and Boundary Study Act

This section redesignates the Salem Maritime National Historic Site as the Salem Maritime National Historical Park.

This section directs the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a boundary study evaluating the suitability and feasibility of including in the Salem Maritime National Historical Park sites and resources in Salem, Massachusetts, and its vicinity—including the Salem Armory Visitor Center building and adjacent Salem Armory Park—associated with maritime history, coastal defenses, and military history (including National Guard and militia activity). Not later than three years after funds are made available, the Secretary must submit to the House Committee on Natural Resources and the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources a report containing the study's results and the Secretary's findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
