This section establishes coverage under TRICARE Prime and TRICARE Select for fertility-related care—including diagnosis; in vitro fertilization (limited to three completed oocyte retrievals and unlimited embryo transfers in accordance with American Society for Reproductive Medicine guidelines); egg, sperm, and embryo preservation; artificial insemination; medications; and other reproduction-facilitating services as determined by the Secretary of Defense—for active duty members of the uniformed services and their dependents, effective for services provided on or after October 1, 2027. (As background: TRICARE is the Department of Defense health care program serving active duty members, retirees, and families.) The section also establishes a program to coordinate such care and provide training and support to community providers on the unique needs of service members and dependents, and makes a conforming amendment to basic TRICARE medical benefits.
