S. 1266 — Youth Mental Health Research Act

This section establishes a Youth Mental Health Research Initiative within the National Institutes of Health (NIH), led by the Director of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in collaboration with the Directors of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development and the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, to coordinate research on youth mental health. The initiative covers (1) social, behavioral, cognitive, and developmental research to build resilience and community capacity to identify and care for at-risk youth and (2) research to improve targeting and delivery of mental health interventions in clinical and community settings, and authorizes $100 million for each of FY2025 through FY2030.
