S. 1284 — Driving Forward Act

This section makes permanent the exemption from the under-the-hood inspection portion of the pre-trip vehicle skills test for certain school bus drivers obtaining a commercial driver's license (CDL), as granted by the Department of Transportation on December 2, 2024 (89 Fed. Reg. 95348), including specified terms and conditions. The section also requires participating states to submit annual reports to the Secretary of Transportation, for six years beginning on the date of enactment, on the number of drivers obtaining a CDL under the exemption in each state.
