S. 1307 — Police Officers Protecting Children Act

This section authorizes qualified law enforcement officers, as defined in section 926B, and qualified retired law enforcement officers, as defined in section 926C, who are authorized under those sections to carry a concealed firearm, to possess a concealed firearm and to discharge a firearm in a school zone. (As background, federal law generally prohibits possession or discharge of a firearm within 1,000 feet of the grounds of a K-12 public, parochial, or private school, subject to specified exceptions.)
