S. 1341 — Sarvis Creek Wilderness Completion Act

This section defines, for purposes of the Act, the term "Sarvis Creek Wilderness Addition" as the land added to the Sarvis Wilderness by the amendment made by section 3(a) and the term "Secretary" as the Secretary of Agriculture.

This section designates approximately 6,817 acres of land in the Routt National Forest as an addition to the Sarvis Creek Wilderness, as generally depicted on the map entitled “Sarvis Creek Wilderness Addition Proposal” dated February 26, 2024. For purposes of administering the addition, it deems the date of enactment as the effective date referenced in section 4(d)(4) of the Wilderness Act (i.e., the date by which valid existing mining claims and mineral leases, permits, and licenses must have been issued in order to continue under Wilderness Act regulations).

This section establishes administrative provisions for the Sarvis Creek Wilderness Addition by (1) stating that nothing in the Act affects treaty rights of any Indian tribe and authorizing the Secretary to permit, in accordance with applicable law, tribal access to and use of the area for traditional, religious, and cultural purposes; and (2) authorizing the Secretary to conduct any activity necessary to control fire, insects, and diseases, subject to appropriate terms and conditions, consistent with section 4(d)(1) of the Wilderness Act.
