S. 1349 — Ruby Mountains Protection Act

This section withdraws approximately 309,272 acres of land in the Ruby Mountains subdistrict of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest—depicted as “National Forest System Lands” on the Forest Service map entitled “S. 258 Ruby Mountains Protective Act” dated December 5, 2019—from all forms of operation under the mineral leasing laws (i.e., laws authorizing leases for oil, gas, and other leasable minerals), subject to valid existing rights. It further withdraws any such lands or interests acquired by the United States after enactment within the subdistrict boundary, with the map available for public inspection in Forest Service offices.

This section withdraws approximately 39,926.10 acres of Federal land in the Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge—as depicted on a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service map entitled “S. XXX Ruby Mountains Protection Act” and dated February 23, 2021—from all forms of operation under the mineral leasing laws, subject to valid existing rights and excepting noncommercial refuge management activities by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. The withdrawal applies automatically to any land or interests in land within the refuge boundary acquired by the United States after enactment, with the map available for public inspection in appropriate Service offices.
