S. 1643 — Protecting Access to Ground Ambulance Medical Services Act of 2025

This section extends the super rural ambulance add-on payment under Medicare (i.e., a 22.6% payment increase above the base ambulance fee schedule amount for low-volume ambulance providers in super rural areas) through January 1, 2028 (from October 1, 2025) and sets such add-on at 26.7% for services furnished on or after October 1, 2025, and before January 1, 2028. It also extends the temporary ground ambulance add-on payments (i.e., increases above the base fee schedule to address inflation in ambulance costs) through January 1, 2028 (from October 1, 2025), setting them at 4.3% for rural ground ambulance services and 3.4% for other ground ambulance services furnished during the October 1, 2025, through December 31, 2027, interim period.
